For the same reasons I don’t get sports and religion, I don’t understand why people are so emotional over Joe Paterno’s death.

I mean, death is sad, but he was 85 and lived a good life, that’s kinda the best case scenario.

Sure, he was the patriarch of my university, but I’ve graduated and college is in the past. Also, Penn State’s football abilities have nothing to do with me. It’s a wonderful university that gave me an education I value, not a football team.

I do appreciate that Joe Paterno’s success led to success for Penn State (after all, half of our library is because of him) but I disapprove of our capitalist society that allows football to generate an overwhelming flow of cash to institutes as crucial as universities.

JoePa was a sweet old man but he was no Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Penn State board of trustees announced Wednesday the immediate removal Hall of Fame football coach Joe Paterno and school president Graham Spanier.

Paterno was informed by the board of trustees on the phone prior to the announcement.The announcement comes five days after former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was indicted on sex abuse charges and athletics director Tim Curley and senior vice president Gary Schultz were charged with perjury and failure to report a crime.
